Test drives sounds like a great way to spend it. I keep meaning to do that, but stuff gets in the way.

It works when your kid gets old enough that you can get her interested in cars. ;)

I want to test drive a bun ch of cars before we have kids so that I don’t spend extra time narrowing down options and rather go straight to the dealer and finish the deal in one saturday when the time comes.

Doesn’t exist in the US new . And nearest Volvo dealer is 100 miles away. Might do a trip in the future to test drive the new V60/S60 though. They’re strong contenders for my next car.

Staycation till the 2nd here as well (minus half a day work, thanks NYSE) ... then actual vacation.
Maybe should pull a Doug and rent one to find quirks and features.

No wagon in US, but I did test drive both the new 6 with the 2.5 Turbo and its competition earlier this year. Fantastic daily drivers both

I have seen just one Quadrafoglio in my small town, and that too during a local Cars&Coffee, definitely from out of state.
But I don’t want to spend money to test drive a car. Why, when I can get a $ 25/50 coupon just for test driving one at the dealership.
Although I know there’s a model 3 on Turo in my area(Most of the selection is meh). Might try it out for just one day to see what the big deal is.

What’s your method for test driving cars when you’re not really close to a purchase? I’ve thought about test driving some cars for funzies, but I’m also a terrible liar and I don’t want to pretend that I’m actually looking to purchase any new car (because I never will, except perhaps a family hauler in the distant future). So I just Turo things.

I am not going to spend money to test drive a car, in fact dealerships pay $25 or $50 in visa prepaid cards to you to actually test drive their cars so why would I Turo? Plus the local selection in my area sucks for what you pay.
I call or email to setup an appointment. Say I just want to test drive, and towards the end of the drive when they start the let’s sit down and talk some numbers line I politely say “I am not in the market right now, I am still making payments on my car so there is no real need as of now, Just wanted to try this so see what options are out there. I am anywhere between 6 to 12 months out before I change my current vehicle but I will definitely consider this vehicle in the future and will buy from you if you have the exact vehicle I am looking for, but I also need to test drive competitors X,Y Z vehicles”
In fact, most salesmen are perfectly fine when you’re truthful upfront and tell them you’re not looking to by today, just want to check out a few cars. They don’t mind at all if you hand back the keys and thank them, shake their hands, take their card and walk right off.
I once test drove 5 cars at a Ford dealership, took 4 hours, they were cool with it. Sat down for a few minutes as the sales manager tried to sell me an MKZ but 5 minutes later he gave up. Depends on the dealership though.
If some are really pushy, I can cook up stories no problem. would say I am a pretty good liar when it comes to dealership tactics because I follow the Costanza method:

Ill usually say something about “ not buying now, but maybe within the year.”
That way they wont really pressure you, but will still kind of take you seriously.

Fantastic Beasts 2 was such a mess.. I watched (at home) and kept it on just to see how it ends, and as usually with movies these days, it was all a setup to part 3. Too many stories, too much stuff going on. Rotten tomatoe for me.

Yup. It was running on the TV today just for me to finish what I started on the flight, and I was disinterested for the most part. It’s a hot mess. And Johnny Depp as Grindelwaldt makes me want to punch his face.

Civic si or type r. I’ve been down on Honda lately (like the last 10 years or so,) and I’ve heard really good things about the latest gen Si’s and type R’s.
In fact, I may go drive one myself over the holidays!
